Since June 11th 2018, the Management Board of Grupa LOTOS S.A. has been operating without any vacancies left, following the appointment by the Supervisory Board of Robert Sobków to the Management Board as of that date. Earlier, on May 22nd 2018, Mateusz A. Bonca, Jarosław Kawula and Patryk Demski were appointed to the Management Board of the tenth term of office.

Since June 11th 2018, the Management Board of Grupa LOTOS S.A. has been operating without any vacancies left, following the appointment by the Supervisory Board of Robert Sobków to the Management Board as of that date. Earlier, on May 22nd 2018, Mateusz A. Bonca, Jarosław Kawula and Patryk Demski were appointed to the Management Board of the tenth term of office.

Currently, the Grupa LOTOS Management Board of the tenth term is composed of:

Mateusz A. Bonca, PhD, born in Gdynia. A leader with long-standing experience in providing management and strategic advisory services to leading industrial and financial groups in Europe (including Poland), Africa and the Middle East.

Between 2012 and 2016, he worked in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, as Director at Deutsche Bank AG (most recently – Director at Group Management Consulting). Earlier, in 2010–2012, employed as manager at Peppers and Rogers Group Middle East in the UAE, and in 2004–2010 at McKinsey & Company as a consultant and a senior consultant with project experience in numerous countries.

Outside Poland, Mr Bonca developed and drove strategic changes in a number of corporations in the Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Belgium, South Africa, and Turkey. He supervised global projects and coordinated teams working simultaneously on several continents.

A graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics (2004), he also studied at Al Akhawayn University in Morocco. Holds a PhD degree in Economics (with honours, from ALK, class of 2009). Has authored publications and papers delivered at international conferences. Completed courses for Financial Analysts, Securities Brokers, etc.; and also undertook numerous specialist training courses at McKinsey & Company, and in-house management trainings at Deutsche Bank AG. He was an intern at Deloitte & Touche and MARSH.

He is fluent in English (as a holder of an International Baccalaureate Diploma, and having worked for multiple years exclusively in that language). He also has a good command of German (having worked at DB AG in Frankfurt am Main), and has learnt the basics of Arabic – both standard and Moroccan variety (language courses at the Arabic Language Institute in Fez, Morocco, his studies at Al Akhawayn, and several years of work experience in Arab countries).

Member of the Strategic Management Society, Council of the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry and European Refining Technology Conference Advisory Board. Nonpartisan member of the Law and Justice Party’s Programme Board.

Jarosław Kawula, PhD, has been Vice President of the Management Board of Grupa LOTOS S.A. since January 12th 2017, previously serving on the Management Board of the ninth term. Initially, he was in charge of Refining, and since March 2018 – in charge of Refining and Sales. Since May 22nd 2018, he has been serving on the Grupa LOTOS Management Board of the tenth term as its Vice President responsible for Production & Sales.

Mr Kawula holds Master of Science in Engineering and Ph.D. in Chemistry degrees from the Gdańsk University of Technology (the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Management and Marketing). He also holds an MBA degree from the Gdańsk Foundation for Management Development.

Since the beginning of his professional career, Mr Kawula has worked at the Grupa LOTOS refinery in Gdańsk, for the last ten years holding management positions connected with crude oil processing and production control.

Patryk Demski, a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Between 2014 and 2018, he served as Mayor of the Pelplin Municipality. Member of the council of the Polish Tourist Organisation since 2018, and member of the Supervisory Board of the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk since 2017. From 2006 to 2014, Mr Demski was Deputy Branch Manager, acting Deputy Branch Manager, and Chief Specialist at the Gdańsk field branch of the Agricultural Property Agency. In 2011–2014, he served on the Supervisory Board of Zakład Gospodarki Mieszkaniowej Sp. z o.o. of Tczew. In 2006, Mr Demski was Deputy Director of the Pomeranian Governor’s Office in Gdańsk.

Robert Sobków, PhD – in 2017–2018 served as Director of the Institute of Natural Fibers and Medicinal Plants in Poznań, implementing a restructuring plan, harnessing financial synergies with the Institute’s subsidiaries, carrying out investment projects, and successfully commercialising intangible assets to generate annual income of more than USD 1m.

In 2013–2017 worked at the European University of Business in Poznań and as an associate professor at the Trade and Services College in Poznań. As President of the Management Board of LMB Consulting, for 11 years Mr Sobków provided advisory services with regard to management, corporate finance and intangible asset valuation to various companies. As Head of Finance and, later, Vice President of the Management Board, Chief Financial Officer and Commercial Proxy for Mergers and Acquisitions, at Sunset Suits Men’s Fashion, he gained extensive expertise in creating financial policy. At Tonsil S.A., he managed financial policy, in particular he prepared and implemented financial restructuring of the company, as Vice President of its Management Board, Chief Financial Officer. At Wielkopolskie Tartaki Witar, a sawmill company with a workforce of close to 2,000, he served as Head of Financial Analysis and Control, achieving synergies equal to the company’s then outstanding liabilities under credit facilities by streamlining processes and cash flows. Mr Sobków began his professional career in 1991 as Head of Economic Analysis at Eureka Consulting, developing and overseeing the development of more than a hundred strategic, financial and operational studies, including valuations of investment projects and corporate restructuring plans. He holds a Master’s degree and PhD in Economics from the Faculty of Management, Poznań University of Economics and Business. He speaks English and Russian.
