The distance between Stavanger harbour and YME field accounts approx. 110 km. – During offshore transportation average swell couldn’t exceed 2 meters height and throughout MOPU installation even 1 meter. Otherwise we wouldn’t be able to carry out this operation successfully, especially taking into account safety regulations – explains Helge Thoreby, responsible for MOPU towing on LOTOS E&P Norge side.

But the first one to sail on YME field was Rowan Stavanger rig, that reached location on 18th of June. Rowan Stavanger role is to provide maintenance and boarding services until YME project completion. – The rig has been installed on the field since 20th of June – confirms Paweł Siemek, LOTOS Petrobaltic CEO – The final works will be carried out offshore, directly on YME field with Rowan Stavanger assistance.

LOTOS Norge holds 20% shares in YME project with reserves accounting 1,8 million tonnes of crude oil.
