On October 14th 2013 (Monday), the European Commission approved the joint-venture agreement between Grupa LOTOS and BP Europa. The new company deals with the supply, logistics, and sales of aviation fuel in Poland.

Market activity

The agreement is another phase in Grupa LOTOS's development, and a further step forward for its aviation fuel sales in Poland, both of which are being implemented consistently. “We are committed to strengthening our position on the market,” said Artur Warsocki, CEO of LOTOS Tank S.A. “We have already commenced sales of aviation fuel 'at the wing tip' at Warsaw's Chopin International airport, and have successfully entered Kraków’s Balice airport too. We also operate at Gdańsk international airport and conduct wholesale of aviation fuel at several other airports, which handle the tanking themselves.”

Air BP, BP's aviation fuel division, executed the joint-venture agreement in June 2013 with Grupa LOTOS, as part of which Grupa LOTOS disposed of its 50% interest in LOTOS Tank to the benefit of Air BP. Following completion of the transaction, LOTOS Tank will continue trading as LOTOS – Air BP Polska.

LOTOS – Air BP Polska will continue its activities at the airports in Gdańsk (GDN), Warsaw (WAW), and Kraków (KRK), and commence operations at Katowice (KAT) and Modlin (WMI). The new company will benefit from the combination of its existing advantages, such as the international customer base and long experience of Air BP, and Grupa LOTOS’s familiarity with the local market and supply chain management expertise.
