Michał Kościuszko and Maciek Szczepaniak racing in the LOTOS Dynamic Rally Team colours will start today in Rally Catalunya, the final round of the World Rally Championship in this season. Five drivers are within sight of the PWRC title, including Michał Kościuszko ranked second in the standings.

48. Held from November 8th to 11th on Spain’s Costa Daurada in the Tarragona region, Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada will be the last round of this year's World Rally Championship. The rally consists of 18 special stages with a total length of 405.40 km. The teams will cover a total distance of 1,475.43 km. As it was the case in 2011, this year's routes will take drivers through twisty asphalt roads, requiring them to stay fully focused while taking high-speed turns.

74 teams have entered the rally,  including 17 cars in the WRC class and 12 in the Super 2000 class (7 of which will compete in the SWRC). 14 teams are hoping to score PWRC points, but the World Champion title may only go to Michał Kościuszko (Mitsubishi) of the LOTOS Dynamic Rally Team, Mexico's Benito Guerra (Mitsubishi), Ukraine's Valeriy Gorban (Mitsubishi) or Argentina's Marcos Ligato (Subaru).

On the final round of the World Championship run on asphalt and gravel, competition will surely be fierce. As many as 5 drivers are still in with a chance for championship honours, which shows that all PWRC runners compete on a par. We will have to quickly switch from one surface to another, while the fight for points is likely to continue until the end of the last special stage - said Michał Kościuszko, last year's Vice-Champion in the PWRC.

The rally will start with a shakedown in Salou, followed by a qualifying stage, after which the teams will head to Parc Fermé in Barcelona, where the competition will officially begin at 7:30pm. Cars will start at one-minute intervals in the order established during the qualifying stage from Avenida de la Catedral and race through Carrer dels Arcs, Avinguda del Portal de l’Àngel, Plaça de Catalunya, Ronda Universitat and Carrer Sepúlveda. It will be a city stage, which means that the teams will be required to observe traffic regulations.

On Friday, the drivers will cover the distance of 547.65 km, including 150.22 km in special stages. During the second day of the rally, on Saturday, all three repeated special stages will take place on asphalt roads with a total length of 161.3 km. Sunday's leg will be 364.83 km long, including special stages of 93.88 km. The first team in Salou is expected to cross the finish line at 3:02 local time.
