The Polske Filmdager 2020 Festival will feature a mix of film screenings, bilingual discussion panels, meetings with artists, as well as exhibitions and concerts intended to promote Polish culture among the Norwegian audience. This year, the festival will be held as a hybrid event, both on-site (in Oslo and Fredrikstad) and online. The first film screenings are slated for October 10th. The main sponsor of the event is LOTOS Exploration & Production Norge.
The 7th edition of the festival is dedicated to Frédéric Chopin on the 210th anniversary of his birthday. The programme includes films, concerts, exhibitions and workshops devoted to or, inspired by the life and work of, the brilliant composer.
Due to the pandemic, this year’s Polske Filmdager Festival will be held both as a traditional on-site event and online. Planned broadcasts over social media will allow the audience to view and listen to its programmes, but also to actively participate by commenting or asking questions. Additionally, Internet users will be able to attend the ‘Romantic synthesis of arts’ online exhibition, listen to concerts of RGG Trio and KROKE, or take part in discussion panels entitled: ‘Icons: »I like Chopin«’ ‘Psycho-technologies’, ‘Society – Emigration’ as well as ‘Jazz and film music’.
The audience attending on-site will be able to see: the ‘Magic Grand Piano’, ‘Miniature films set to Chopin’s and Grieg’s music’, ‘Icarus. The legend of Mietek Kosz’, ‘Your Vincent’ and ‘Welcome to Norway!’ to name just a few titles.
Organised since 2014, the Polske Filmdager Festival is one of the projects aimed to bring closer Poles and Norwegians. It is also intended to showcase Poland’s contribution to European culture.
