Grupa LOTOS S.A. has ranked 11th in the EUROPA 500 ranking of the 500 largest CEE companies, having advanced eight positions compared with 2009. The ranking has been prepared by the Rzeczpospolita daily together with Deloitte, a consultancy firm.
The high ranking of Grupa LOTOS confirms its dynamic growth, reflected in the record performance for H1 2011: revenue of PLN 13.3bn and EBITDA of PLN 1bn. The net profit of PLN 889m was attributable to higher sales, rising prices of crude oil and the weakening US dollar.
The 500 Ranking was presented during the opening gala of the 21st Economic Forum in Krynica. Sales revenue is the key criterion used in the ranking. All the winners of this year’s ranking have recorded significant revenue increases.
This year’s ranking is the fifth edition of the list of the 500 largest companies from Central and Eastern Europe. Analysts selected the leaders from among 943 companies representing 19 countries, which means that the EUROPA 500 list provides the most accurate picture of the region’s economy. The data used in the ranking reveals that 2010, which saw strong turnover growth, was a successful year for large companies.
