The grand opening of a new IT classroom took place yesterday at Primary School No. 61 in Gdańsk-Przeróbka. Grupa LOTOS sponsored eight computer stations as well as software in the new classroom for the students of the school.

“I believe that these computers will give you even more enthusiasm and energy for learning, which is the foundation of your future success,” said Iwona Mostowska, Head of the Social Affairs and CSR Office, who cut the ceremonial ribbon on the new IT classroom.

For many years, Grupa LOTOS has engaged in activities supporting the development of talented youngsters, as well as the development of science. The neighbourhoods closest to its headquarters are particularly important to the Company, so through its ‘Good Neighbour’ programme it supports numerous investments in the development of the local community, such as the recent purchase of the new computer equipment, or earlier, construction of a sports field by Primary School No. 61 within the ‘Junior Gdańsk 2012’ programme.

“Thanks to your company, we are becoming a school of the 21st century. We are proud and pleased that we have such generous neighbours,” said Barbara Wojtala, the school's headmistress.

The students themselves have also thanked Grupa LOTOS by presenting an artistic programme prepared specifically for the event, and by decorating the school with stickers and signs bearing the LOTOS logo.

“Grupa LOTOS is consistent in the implementation of its social responsibility strategy, in which the priority areas are education and the levelling of social differences, particularly among children and youth. As a good neighbour and a company that applies corporate responsibility rules and values on an everyday basis, we make every effort to care for our closest neighbourhood and its residents. By sponsoring young people’s education, we can give them an opportunity for a better career in the future,” said Jowita Twardowska, Communication and CSR Director.
