The title of National Champion of the ENACTUS Poland 2014 contest was awarded to the STRATEG Students Group from Gdańsk University − a team sponsored by Grupa LOTOS and now headed for Beijing, where it will represent Poland during the competition’s international finals. This year, Jowita Twardowska, Communication & CSR Director at Grupa LOTOS, sat on the jury as an expert and representative of the programme’s Gold Sponsor.

Students from the Enactus University of Gdansk representing the Gdańsk University Strateg Students Group won their twelfth National Champion title, defeating the best university teams from all around the country. In October 2014, they will represent Poland in the ENACTUS 2014 World Cup final in Beijing, where they will compete against teams from 39 countries for the title of World Champion.

“Students from Gdańsk University change the life of our local communities for the better,” said Ms Twardowska. “They work on projects which combine social, business and environmental agendas. We support ENACTUS, because such actions are consistent with our corporate social responsibility strategy.”

The students involved in the programme execute projects designed to create lasting and efficient improvement in the quality of life of marginalised social groups.

As of the 2013/2014 academic year, Grupa LOTOS has become a partner of ENACTUS Poland. As part of the partnership, the Company has announced a grant competition for students of Polish universities associated in the organisation. Already then did LOTOS see the potential of STRATEG, as they were the ones who won the PLN 10,000 grant for the ‘Ekorywalizacja’ project. The initiative is a continuation of the 'SLOW' ('Second Life of Waste') project, first implemented in 2013. At the centre of the project is an educational campaign which includes collection of PET bottles at Gdańsk schools, fitness clubs, and during pro-environmental events.
