Wednesday, May 1st 2013 marks the start of the Rally Argentina, the fifth round of the World Rally Championship and one of the fastest of this year's WRC meetings. For four days, rally fans will have their eyes glued to Cordoba, a province of Argentina, where the LOTOS Rally Team's Michał Kościuszko and Maciek Szczepaniak will be competing.
Having performed very well in the gravel-road stages of the Rally Azores, Robert Kubica finished sixth. After the Rally Portugal, this is the second sixth-place result for the LOTOS-supported driver, thanks to difficult weather conditions.
Grupa LOTOS SA took eighth place overall in the 7th Responsible Companies Ranking, and second in the industry ranking (Fuel, Energy, Mining). Previous editions of the RCR have included over 150 companies operating on the Polish market.
In a ranking of the 500 largest Polish companies prepared by the Rzeczpospolita daily, LOTOS has again taken second.
The challenging Rally de Portugal ended on April 14th (Sunday). Kubica finished sixth in the WRC-2 category, while Kościuszko had to pull out altogether during the last special stage due to technical problems.
One rally, two categories, four rally drivers supported by LOTOS. This weekend rally enthusiasts can count on a powerful dose of adrenaline – on Friday, April 12th Robert Kubica and Michał Kościuszko will compete in Rally Portugal.
On Friday, April 12, the Świdnica Rally begins – the first elimination round of the Polish Rally Championship 2013 season, for which Grupa LOTOS is the title sponsor. Number 1 has been assigned to last year’s winners, Kajetan Kajetanowicz and his co-pilot Jarek Baran, who will be flying the colours of the LOTOS Rally Team.
On April 9th 2013, CalEnergy acceded as a limited partner to the Baltic Gas Sp. z o.o. i Wspólnicy Spółka Komandytowa, a limited liability partnership created earlier by LOTOS Petrobaltic to implement an investment agreement with CalEnergy of October 30th on cooperation in development of gas fields B4 and B6 in the Baltic Sea. The recoverable reserves at B4 and B6 are estimated at 4 billion m3 of gas.
The LOTOS brand has been awarded a prestigious Business Superbrand 2013 award in the 7th Polish edition of the Superbrands programme, which awards the strongest brands on the Polish market. Grupa LOTOS received the award in the Corporate Brands category.
In Saturday's Fafe WRC Rally Sprint – the warm-up to the Rally de Portugal – Robert Kubica made his gravel debut in a Citroen DS3 RRC, taking first place amongst drivers not running WRC cars.
Forbes has awarded a Diamond to another company in the LOTOS Group, LOTOS Czechowice. The Czechowice-based company took first place in a ranking of companies in Silesia that have earned from PLN 5 to 50 million in revenue.
Five days before the start of the Rally de Portugal, on Saturday, Robert Kubica and Maciek Baran will be running in the WRC Rally Sprint Fafe. This will be their first start on a gravel surface and an important round of training before the main event on April 12.
